Clean energy at an optional premium rate

The Net Zero Rate Program is designed for customers who want to contribute to the reduction of electricity-related emissions, without installing or operating their own generation assets.

Through this optional program, NB Power customers can pay a premium rate to indicate their preference to receive a portion of their electricity from clean, non-emitting energy sources.

Offered on a first-come, first-served basis and subject to availability, the Net Zero Rate Program provides a quick and convenient way to support measurable progress toward carbon reduction and climate goals, while continuing to receive safe, reliable electricity service from NB Power.

How the Net Zero Rate Program Works

The Net Zero Rate Program allows customers to support to the reduction of electricity-related emissions by supporting the generation and sourcing of clean energy by NB Power, without the need for customers to install their own generation equipment.

Here’s how participation works:

  • Select your participation level to indicate your preferred portion of clean, non-emitting energy you want for your electricity use (up to 100%), subject to availability.
  • A Net Zero Rate premium applies only to the participation level you select.
  • Your existing electricity rate remains unchanged.
  • The Net Zero Rate premium appears as a separate line item on your bill: Net Zero Premium.
  • Participation is voluntary and available to all customer rate classes, subject to program availability.

Premium Rates:

The Net Zero Rate is shown as a separate line item on your electricity bill.

Distribution customers:
8.32 cents per kWh
Applicable taxes apply.

Transmission customers:
7.99 cents per kWh
Applicable taxes apply.

How the new non emitting energy premium is calculated:

  • Your total electricity consumption in kWh
  • The participation level you choose to enroll in the Net Zero Rate Program

Eligibility:

Participation is offered on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to availability, and is subject to program Terms and Conditions.
