This page contains the forms and documents you need to submit to the Human Resources Officer you’ve been working with during the hiring process.

Getting this paperwork out of the way before you officially start will free up your first day for meeting more co-workers and learning about your new role. Below the forms, we’ve also included some information that can be helpful to review before you start.

Getting Started

There are six items you need to complete and email to your Human Resources contact as soon as possible. You can either fill the documents out electronically by saving to your device, or you can print the documents and fill them out by hand and scan to send the files by email. Please note that we require these forms even if you have been previously employed by NB Power.

  1. Signed Employment Offer Letter (you received this by email)
  2. Direct Deposit Form (If the Direct Deposit Form is not stamped by your bank, please provide a voided cheque OR deposit account form – for most banks this can be found in online banking.)
  3. Provincial Personal Tax TD1NB
  4. Federal Personal Tax Credits TD1
  5. Employee Information Form
  6. Confirmation of your Social Insurance Number (SIN): SIN card; SIN letter; or government issued documentation showing your SIN.

Frequently Asked Questions

What union represents the majority of NB Power employees?

Most Temporary/Term/Regular Status Employees are a part of the IBEW Local 37 Union. Not sure if your position is unionized? Check with your Human Resources Officer.

The Collective Agreements for NB Power and IBEW Local 37 are available online. Unsure of which Collective Agreement you are covered by? Ask your Human Resources Officer or find it noted in your Employment Offer Letter. Please note: all Casual employees associated with the TDCC Collective Agreement are now unionized.

What pension plan is associated with NB Power?

If you are a Regular/Term Status Employee, you are required to participate in New Brunswick Public Service Pension Plan. This link will walk you through how the pension plan works. Your enrolment into this pension plan will happen automatically – you don’t need to do anything to get started.

What mandatory and optional benefits does NB Power offer?

If you are a Temporary/Term/Regular Status Employee, you are eligible for mandatory and optional benefits. On your first day, you will receive information on how to enroll for these benefits. Check out this high-level overview of the mandatory and optional benefits.

Don’t forget, you have 30 days from your first day on the job to enroll for your benefits. If you do not enroll within 30 days, your benefits will be set at the default levels.

When will I get paid?

Employees are paid bi-weekly, every second Thursday, through a direct deposit system. Pay periods begin on a Friday and end on a Thursday (2-week period) and are paid out on the following pay period end date (e.g. a pay period ending on the 14th day is paid out on the 28th day).

What if I require a Drivers Abstract for my role?

Abstracts may be obtained in person at SNB (Service New Brunswick) offices located at various locations throughout the Province, by telephone at SNB Teleservice toll free 1-888-762-8600 or by mail to the contact provided. We reimburse for the cost incurred.

Please e-mail a copy of your Driver’s Abstract to your Human Resource Officer prior to your first day. On your first day, bring in a receipt of the cost incurred, and your supervisor will help you get reimbursed.

What kind of safety footwear do I need to purchase?

You can choose any store to purchase your safety footwear, given the safety footwear meets the following CSA standards: CSA Green Triangle and CSA Omega tags displayed on composite footwear. For Casual/Student/Temporary employees, we reimburse up to $80 of the costs incurred. For Regular/Term employees, please check your collective agreement for the coverage amount. On your first day, bring in a copy of your receipt and your supervisor will help you get reimbursed.

How can I obtain a Criminal Record Check for my role?

In New Brunswick, Criminal Record Checks are available from your local police department or RCMP Detachment. NB Power will reimburse you for the costs incurred if it is required for your role.

  • If you reside in the Fredericton area, you can obtain a Criminal Record Check online.
  • If you reside in the Saint John area, you can obtain a Criminal Record Check online.
  • If you reside in the Moncton area, you can obtain a Criminal Record Check through the Codiac RCMP in person.

We recommend contacting department/detachment ahead of time to ensure may want to call the detachment ahead of time, to ensure you have all the necessary documentation and information.
