To be eligible for the Embedded Generation program, applicants must complete the following three-step application process.

Step 1. Identify the potential sites

We have divided a map of New Brunswick to identify locations where there is capacity on our system for potential distribution generation projects.

Step 2. Submit a General Capacity Assessment form

Once the applicant has selected a site for their potential project, they must submit the following form to NB Power. NB Power will then assess the capacity requirements and the proposed location for connection. Applicants will be required to pay a fee of $500 for this assessment.

Step 3. Submit an Embedded Generation Interconnection Application form

Next, the applicant must submit a formal application to connect to the NB Power distribution system using the form below. Once NB Power confirms the requested capacity is available, the applicant will receive an approval letter. The applicant will then have 30 days to confirm they plan to go ahead with the project, and then have 60 days to execute a Power Purchase Agreement. Applicants will be required to pay a fee of $10,000 for this process.
